you'll have more luck with the welding if you convert your mig to gas and use solid wire. $130 for an E (medium) sized bottle of argo shield plus $12 monthly bottle rental and about $60 for 15kg roll of solid wire. You'll be laughing then. And there's not as much obnoxious fumes involved.

I know its been a while but i have found some time recently to continue! I have fully supported the front suspension and i have also supported the Floorpan, and hopefully tomoz i will have the steering column put in so i can atleast drive it in and out of the shed.

In the pics you can see the string line setup to get the wheels nice and straight for when i setup the whole steering, i also have a few questions...

Ok my first real question is this

The bar the is circled in red in the last pic i assume that has to be perfectly straight? as in perpendicular to the floorpan since it is going across it.

Also just a random fact did you know the wheels are two inches wider at the front than the back?!?! I didnt cock up the front aswell, i got the measure meants off the original front!

you'll get planty of info. ihave a 1969 beetle which i wanted to convert into a baja but now have chosen to make it euro style with a wankel r sub engine. decided the l-series was better option for the offroad stuff but beettle would b more fun though

I know its been a while but i finally found some time to do some work on her. So far i have been able to cause some problems. I have mounted the front seat very hastily and melted through the brake line with the welder, so i need to line up a new brake line which is on its way. Also the seat wasnt mounted right it was sort of on an angle so i have decided to redo that.

While this is all going on i managed to rewire it and get it to start from the key, also i was able to mount the front steering properly and now its all Ace, i have FINALLY started the roll cage, but since i will soon be getting two more quad bikes and a motor bike it will probably take the back bench again and hopefully be done by christmas!

Ill work on the roll cage when i get the time and then get pictures up
