You can buy plug in plastic case fusible links from an auto electricians, they look like this

But if you are replacing a black fusible link, use a back plug in fusible link

I looked in the Narva catalogue at my local parts joint and they are universally colour coded accross all of the different types of fusible links including the old style copper wire ones. So red is red and black is black no matter what type of link it actually is.steptoe wrote:SCA also sell them, but have we established it is still colour for colour in the conversion of ratings ??

That seems odd, as the black fusible link supplies the ignition switch, the fuel pump relay, the ignition relay and ECU

Yeah regular fuses don't work! I've melted many trying to limp home one night on a 30A fuse. Can't remember which fuse it was though but the lights got very dim very quickly!coupe wrote:I went to the parts place and while im still trying to get a match i used a 25 amp fuse and a fuse bridge so i could run the car. the fuse blew as soon as i started it but the car still runs untill you turn it off , then you replace it to restart lol.
Yeah there must have been some sort of link in the fuse for this to work. I've driven on a completely fried black fusible link with lights very dim, warning lights glowing on the dash. When I stopped to check it out it stalled and I could start it like I had no battery connected.Gannon wrote:That seems odd, as the black fusible link supplies the ignition switch, the fuel pump relay, the ignition relay and ECU
It seems that I only have these fusible link events at night. Lucky me!
