Anyone done Gibb River Rd ?

Post by EJ22Ute » Sat Jul 29, 2006 11:37 am

Was wondering if any one from here has been along there and if it is worth the drive?.

i may be in the area in a couple of weeks and have heard there are some awsome sights to see, but alot of corrugations and sharp rocks as well.

i have done the road, its an awesome sight :D

lots to see and do, lots of side tracks that go to spectacular places.

but yes, corrugations and ruts can get quite big, i did it in a 100 series landcruiser and by the time we finished the road the car felt like it was 20 years older :p

but as long as you take ur time, it can be overcome

theres a road that goes from the gibb river road up to kalumburu which is also an awesome trip, but it makes the trip a lot longer, and the road can be closed without notice as well.

but if you are willing to spend the time on the road, go do it!!

i found it fantastic
