Daves locate and map Kittys (Trip report)

Post by SuBaRiNo » Sun Mar 11, 2007 9:58 pm

Devil Dave and i went for a treck around Jarrahdale today with the GPS and did about 4 hours of track mapping.

We located Kittys Gorge and where it is in relation to the more recent tracks we have done... i have not uploaded the maps yet but if anyone is interested i can put them up shortly.

As far as the track condition goes... MEOW!! It's pretty hardcore still.... most people wont be able to do this track without a heavily modified subi.... and low range would be a must. I have done this track serveral times and it would have to be in the worsed shape i have ever seen it.

Even the last open stretch of the track has been blocked off with fallen logs making everything rather interesting.

Anyhows... we have mapped it now by car and parts of it on foot. I also marked a lot of un-ventured tracks that still need exploring and some very very challenging tracks we can do as a group.

A few more days of productive maping like today and we will have most of it i think.

Big thanks to Dave for being my wing man on this reccy run.

no way around it....only "easier" alternative is to do it reverse to what dave and i did..and go DOWN the hill rather then up it

Sorry Dave I didn't mean it like that. Yes last time we had a look at it it was massively overgrown (will almost scrape your paint off in places) very rutted and extremely rocky (not gravel sharp rocks that could kill tyers), not a place for the faint hearted. I also agree that it should not be considered without some lift, low range (and preferable 4WD tyers), as well as some 4WDing skill/confidence.

LOL Alex... when your engine is done you are on man... you can follow me through Kittys. Funny you say this now while your car is about to get the engine removed.
