AHG Performance Driving Day

Post by mattims » Mon Jun 16, 2008 10:41 pm

I went out to AHG last sunday and had a ball on the performance driving course. 4 hours for only $80 and the instructors were actually pretty good drivers who would sit in the car and give you usefull hints. And generally were encouraging us to push the car and slide around.

It was pouring with rain but i still had a ball.. 220kws.. big turbo.. old tires on a wet track makes lots of drifting..

I'll pretty definitely be going back either for another performance driving day (driving around cone tracks with instructors to help out). Or a test and tune arvo, driving on the actuall race track.

Is anyone else interested in going at the same time?

*** yeah. I would love to do that. Ive got to get my replacement Subaru first. Im tempted to buy that Black 1992 Liberty in the autotrader. But ive got alot of shit on my plate atm. I would def like to do it in the future. Uni and work is a real massive load. I should be studing instead of being on these forums all the time. I would like to get into that stuff, might be a while. November after all my exams and shit is out of the way, thats the soonest i would be ready cause i got to first get enough money for a decent Subaru this time (not driving atm).

Did you happen to take your own car out there? Or did you take the Toyota MR2 out?

took my own car. Lib B4 (with 2.5L single turbo conversion)..

my tires were a bit rubbish.. khumos!! dont get them. Even the instructors couldn't make it corner properly.. it would either understeer or drift the whole corner if pushed hard.

Sounds like my old Leone. Those shitty generic tyres that i replaced over the Yoko's was a very dumb thing i did, would understeer around every goddamn corner. And in the wet i nearly ****ed myself on many occasions would accroplane alot. Probaly the reason why im a better driver today. My next Subaru will be one massive upgrade from my old one 72kW from the old EA82 to 150kW+ in my next car. Im still seriously considering importing a SubaruXT6 from Japan, thats the one with the ER27 2.7L Flat6, thats if one can be found. But next option would be a large NA engined Liberty or a Turbo model Liberty. Not sure yet. Still weighing up all of my options.
