2 things... You know new shocks don't come with new strut tops right??
Also... if your planing on keeping the car you can't beat putting in a brand new set... i belive these are still available. I used to replace mine with 2nd hand ones... pretty much tore one every trip.

A mate and I installed new ones and welded up a nice little device that stops them ever happening again. If you interested you might need to pop over and have a look.

On topic though... i will check if i have a spare in the shed and let you know. As i said i have not needed one for years but i have always kept them for spares just incase.

might also be worth drilling the 3 holes in the right place in the strut towers and converting to L series / Liberty strut tops - they don't break, even old second hand ones.

The only way i would consider doing what andrew has suggested is if you have a lift kit and you use the strut top as a strut conversion plate. So only modifying the lift kit strut top and not the body of the car.

If you did it on the car it would take a fair bit of work to make it strong enough and neat enough. I have looked into it. I also think there could be a problem physically bolting the L strut top down to the MY shock. But i do agree... never seen an L one break.

Yeah admittedly I don't know anyone personally who has done that or looked into it in great detail myself, but interestingly just about all the Brumby's you see in magazines which have been all done-up with EJ's etc seem to have had it done.
