I would absolutely love to go! One of my main aims since first getting a Suby is to travel the whole of Australia in one. I am positive I will have my current wagon up to standard for a trouble free trip by that stage (I'll bring at least 6 complete spare driveshafts just incase!!). The only sitcking points for me are...
1. Getting the time off work
2. Convincing certain others that this is the best use of my time off
As far as I'm concerned, there couldn't BE anything better!!

It will again all come down to my work situation at the time. If there's any way I can get the time I will go.

Im also considering this... howerever i will have to do something with the fuel tank in the hatch... i don't think it will hold enough fuel to get from servo to servo as it is.

It's the short version 4WD tank anyway.

well .. if its going to be a nice on-road trip i'll seriously think about it.
what dates is it .. and how long are you guys thinking of taking to do the trip.
i should be able to get 3-4 weeks of work. depending on how busy it will be that time of year. And i think my B4 should really be up for that sort of trip by then ..

The trip will be a road trip there and back , we plan to have a few days over at Fraser Island while we are there and then head back home , if you werent going to go to the island we could meet up with you before we head back home.
Plan is for 3 weeks.

Yeah 35L tank... im lucky to get 250km out of it... seams to use more on the freeway crusing than any of time.... don't ask me why. *shrugs*
I guess i would get even less out of it if it was full of travelling gear.

3 weeks sounds very good, I thought we'd have been in for 4.
Is there a rough itinerary at all?

Dave that is shocking fuel consumtion , my Liberty gets way better than that , why is the hatch tanks so small 8O .

Hatch tanks are so small because they are almost a foot shorter in the back than a wagon... giving me a foot less room for the fuel tank. Then take out the hump for the diff.. There is no way of fitting the larger tank without extending the car either.
Yeah bringing a fuel tank would be difficult... lukcy to fit everything in it as it is.
I don't know what the beaf is with the fuel consumption... i think it is because of it's "brick like" appearance... can't be too good for the air dynamics.
Would make for a VERY expensive trip... i would need some numbers and figures to work out if i can do it or not. Fuel costs... distances.. etc etc.

Sounds like you guys had better get together and decide what the date of the BBQ will be.
