Australia Post suck!

Post by JPM » Mon Jan 31, 2011 7:16 pm

Hey all- time for a whinge!

Ordered some parts from the States for my Impreza from http://www.subtlesolutions.com and had them sent to my house. No drama's, seller sent them off really quickly and gave me a tracking number. Great online store by the way for newer subi's.

Now, according to which version of Australia Post's bullcrap you believe 1) their most useless/ blind/ plain lazy delivery contractor tried to deliver them on Friday but couldn't find my house on two seperate occasions (they sure seem to have no dramas finding my address for bills fairly frequently!!), and/or 2) when they did find my house on Friday somebody told them I don't live there. (absolute bollocks, like most people, I work during the day, and my wife happened to be away in Kalgoorlie, so nobody was home).

The seller in the states tells me though that he put my mobile phone number on the delivery label (standard practice for him). No phone call to me from the contractor to clarify any details to make the delivery, and no friggin card left in the letter box, nothing.

So I call up today and ask where my delivery is, and get told that following their standard policy the contractor sent it back to the states that same day!!!! ARGHHHH - INSERT EXPLETIVE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Accordingly I got stuck into Australia Post, and their complaints guy looked into it. He said, and I quote 'looks like we stuffed up, sorry, but its too late to do anything about it now...' ARRRRRRRGHHGH - INSERT ANOTHER CURSE WORD !!!!!!!!!!!

My plan is to take my complaint to the Ombudsman tomorrow and see if I can get the second lot of postage paid for. This is simply not good enough.

In the meantime, I'm going to have to hope the package gets back to the seller, and he will then resend it to me (to my work this time) at further expense.

Australia Post suck.

End rant- I feel better now thanks!!!!!

I know what you mean. I had three identical size, shape, colour and very well addressed boxes in from the Tsunami Export Centre in the Western States of USA. Two arrived, the third ? Well some well meaning person within AusPost changed the culdesac name to a street name, changed the locality name and post code to that of another state/ terrotory and sent it there to be carded, then have that address occupant reject it, then it was labeled as ' deliver as addressed on documentation' . Took a bit of chasing, rule bending but with help of others within AusPost I was able to go get it before anything else happend to it - I feel for you

Yep the out-sourcing of parcel delivery to private contractors sucks, Ive watched as these guys race past my place drop a parcel at the old couples house on the street in front of us, then race off again, only to have the old guy walk up later in the day and apologise that it was delivered at his place.

Anther good one is the no car in the driveway look, aka slow down no car keep going.
and you can combine that with pull up in the driveway fill in the we missed you form and drop it in the letterbox not even try knocking on the front door.

Im sure these guys have a pool to see who can get their route done the quickest.

or the phantom knock, gather a screaming child up in your arms, open the door and nothing WTF, check the letterbox for the we missed you form.

Will I get thrown out of this thread because I don't live in W.A?
I've never had anything lost by Auspost, but once I ordered something from the UK and it didn't arrive in over a month so the seller sent another one, that arrived in 2 weeks. The first one finally arrived a total of 3 MONTHS later!
Another one was I was home all day waiting to sign for a parcel I knew would arrive that day, waited for hours in front of the tv waiting for it and nothing. I got up to go to the loo (gone 5 minutes max) and they came, knocked and left a note in the letter box in that 5 minutes
Also, I'll agree with TOONGA they probably do cut corners to be quick, but don't they have a quota of parcels to deliver (or try to) in a certain day?
Will it ever end!?
