If Challenge are the ones in Ozzy Pk up past Cashies they are great, cheapest I've found for batteries & used them for the past 4-5yrs

i've used challenge is osb park aswell, fairly satisfied with them, and my battery. mention the subaru 4wd club of wa for trade discounts, thats 'Subaru 4WD club of WA", not ausubaru.. coz they are club sponsers. spend the extra and get a decent battery

dunno I have used challenge for the 10 years and really the only reason was the price, their batteries never seem to go much past the warranty period and while they are nice guys to deal with and helpful, and don't argue about whether the battery failing is the batteries fault or some other cause, I have got better life out of a c delco, after it failed after 6 months got a free replacement and had it about 5 years and I think it only died because the car was standing for 9 months.
but any brand seems a gamble now as like everything else they are made in china from loose bits of string and whatever and there is no such thing as quality chinese goods.

Good point, I got 2.5yrs out of the last one I bought off them (2yr warranty) but they did give me an excellent price on the replacement.

I put a Bosch gold in my liberty when I bought it almost 5 years ago. Hasn't missed a beat and still as good now as it was when it was new.

Also had a deka intimidator in my wagon which was purely awesome. It had 850cca and ran my engel for over a week on the coldest setting. It was a $350 battery tho.

So alex do you reccomend that battery for auxilary use?

yes absolutely. Its a dual purpose gel cell.

sort of has the characteristics of a deep cycle battery, but its also fine to start with (it also weighed almost 20kgs) but was the same size as a large battery, fitted easy into the stock posistion in my L.

i wouldnt hesistate to buy another one, but that much money on a battery is feasable for me at this stage. Yellowtop optima should do me fine.

We use the Yellowtop (there is a large range in the yellowtops) Optima batteries in our Schat Harding Lifeboats at work. I've heard they work exceptionally well but need to get the right battery for the specific condition.

I'm waiting for them to change them out (apparently new SOLAS requirements) in 12 months. I've got the old batteries that were just replaced (after 36 months) and they are Bluetop Orbital ones.

Hi Rob.. unfortunately these ones I have will be going in the camper trailer. If you're still looking next year (and work lets me take them) then give me a gentle reminder :)
