Don't dscount the AWD boxes - if you can find one of those they can be made FWD very easily - just block off the tail shaft and connect a couple of wires and hey presto.
Might be harder and more expensive to get an AWD box though :-(

I've got an AUTO AWD Box:) Also have two 2wd manual one out of a 91 lib the other out of a 96 impreza. I can get you the parts to convert your if you want:)

Maybe be happy to swap either of them with maybe some cash difference, depending, if you weld up my rear wheel carrier:p

No 2wd auto at the moment:(

Grab Guy's AWD one and make it FWD. I'm not exactly sure what is involved but I would assume just putting a FWD rear extension housing or just a blank-off plate for the tail shaft output and connect the 2 wires and you're done.

Ring Doug at Stechnic in maddington - he will be able to say exactly what is required.

I'd be very surprised if Doug doesn't have one kicking around his backyard somewhere.

mr paul has come to the rescue once again:)

for the effort of making awd fwd, i found it easier to just wait for a fwd box to come up. lol

next questions i have are regarding the auto

can the box run without the tcu?

as i dont have any wiring or tcu for the box, and the motor is out of a rex. can i run the auto simply?

It will move the shafts but at about 30% of what it should. If you don't want to use a TCU then I'd use the vacuum controlled box from a Leone (L or MY) but I'd use the electronic box if I had the choice ;)

well ive done a bit of research now...and i think im gonna be better off trying to make a manual gearbox work then wire in the auto

which is a shame, caus i really really wanted the auto to work :(

now i gotta do a whole lot of fab work just to get the shifter and clutch stuff working.

so next question, whos got a manual FWD box with flywhel, and clutch ?
