My new project car

Post by coupe » Mon Sep 12, 2011 12:53 am

I found on Gumtree two weeks ago a lic Outback wagon for $700ono.
Its a fully optioned awd 5spd with abs. It had a leaking Head gasket and a narly dent in the front guard.
I went and had a look. it was in quite good condition overall. so i knocked him down to $500.
Got it towed home, ( what a laugh, i got prices for the 37.5 ks $220/ $240. Two weeks previous i got a quote for a 64 k tow it was $160..... go figure lol .i got the tow for $165 so i was happy.) So after i put a bottle of Cargo sealup into the motor the heads have held up well and she drives real nice. I will put up pics later after i start the project.
As for my auto vortex , is getting done at the same time so i can do the summer cruising lol.
cheers Pete

What a steal!

Hope you look after it, $500 subi's go off (just look at Ruby Scoo!). Watch out for the mods that sneak up on you, you'll be thinking of a few and before you know it they're on the subi and your wallet's empty!!

Enjoy.

Cheers

Thanks guys
Its going to be my daily drive eventualy. i have lots of basic things to do like tires, some body work and the head gaskets. We rebuilt the front bumper due to the previous owner hit a pole at the drive in theater. ( Yes theres two good old drive ins still running in WA.
When we stripped the car to start work we found 6 used pregnancy test sticks in the spare wheel well lol. I had to go back to the owners dad to fix up some paperwork so i told him what i found and congratulated him on being a grandad lol. His face was a classic lol. I did tell him later i was joking. We have washed and scraped 10 kgs of dirt and lots of wood from the underside of the car. The previous owner used the car for what it was designed to do.
So far so good .
