Its vacuum operated 4WD so maybe the vacuum has been lost. The servo's that operate the vacuum might not be working properly (if its like centre diff lock one servo should be on at all times). Possible that if all the vacuum and servo's are working that the cable that goes to the gearbox to operate the lock isn't adjusted properly.

Yeah mate looks sweet!
Single range I presume then? If you go dual range I would love to get that push button system sent in my direction
Cheers

the electronic push button 4wd uses a vacuum actuator ( someone please confirm

which is bolted to the gearbox, it looks like a giant vacuum advance unit with a cable that runs to the back of the box. Check the vacuum hoses that run from the manifold to the unit, it could be a simple case of a loose or missing hose.

you were both right snapped hose connection and a stuck cable easily fixed.
went to go undernieth the car to free the stuck cable and realised that the car is in a lot worse shape than i first thought, one part of the chassis is pretty rusted out soo the car will most probably be wrecked
heres some more fotos for your enjoyment

that bullbar is worth what you paid for the car.
I was thinking how it would look on a vortex

Sorry to hear bout the rust but seriously dude...you got 1 heluva bargain!
Are you gonna cannabalise it for parts for your red "L" or restore it? As toonga said the bullbar alone is worth what you paid for it!

I was thinking the same thing but im not too sure if id like it.
How hard would it be to strip it back if i dont like it black?

Don't know. I think you can buy paint strippers. I've used some before and they eat the paint and you can whipe/scrape or wash it off. Not sure how it would react on the alu metal tho:S
Wrap it in news paper and paint over it with a cheap bunnings black paint. That will give you a good idea:p It would cost the same as the paint stripper and will be a lot easier to remove:)

That's a shame.. it looked like it was in good nick. I guess if you part it out you should get your money back plus more and end up with a pretty cheap bullbar
If you do part out, does it has powersteering or not? I'm in need of a non-powersteering rack if possible?

no powersteering but i am unsure of its condition, the kid that i got it off said it has a bent steering rack and thats why it swerves all over the road but im pretty sure it swerves everywhere because its stuck in 4wd because mine did the same thing when i forgot to take it off one day, but i could be wrong. so if you want it its yours
