I like the way you're thinking! And Coffin Bay looks sensational from what I could find online :p

I am definitely keen for this, only need to time this properly as I won't be around for June/July... anytime after that sounds pretty good!

We could certainly stop over in Robe for an overnighter, maybe both ways??

Pedro.

I'm thinking maybe closer to summer time? as usually the southern parts of Aus are generally fairly cold during the winter time. I'm happy for it to be early next year, as this would give others plenty of time to get organised.

I've been giving this some thought and I think it would be easier but more expensive.. once you work out the freight both ways and air, bus or train fares both ways.

I wonder if there is a company that would do group discounts?

Over nighter... Pedro you crack me up mate! You can't just stay one night in robe, where's the play time?? It'd have to be a two night minimum. We can do robe on the way over and mt cole/wyperfeld/grampians on the way back for a night or two (each! Just kidding )

Sounds like a plan. Who wants to orchestrate the planning process? I think we should start a new thread about it so we don't keep hijacking this one.

New year's trip - either be there for new years or do it the week or two after it?

Cheers

I did the trip from Adelaide to Perth some years ago had to drive from melbourne to broken hill as that is where they loaded the car might be different now, but they give a big discount if you travel on the train, I went sit up which is like a cattle car bus seat, we spent all night in the bar cos the seating was better and we got anethetitised (???) so didn't feel it, and slept in the seats in the bar when the barkeep gave up and closed the bar. with the cheap air fares might be worth while to pay for seat and fly over, flog the ticket to some backpacker cheap and stick the car on and pick it up over there. or jump off at the Kalgoorlie stop, walk to the freight car with your car on, jump in your car and put up blinds so no one can see in (although the only stop after Kal is Eyre I think, so no one is going to see you) but would help keep the sun out so you could feast on the goodies you have stocked up on, run the car air con if it gets hot, lay the seat down to sleep. that is the biggest problem on the situps, you can't lay down to sleep and the noise from all the other passengers makes it hard. and the smells.
but it did work out cheaper and a whole lot safer than driving and also you get to enjoy the view without worrying about other traffic.
