i've pretty much finished my engine conversion into my liberty and was wondering as to what is involved into getting it licensed with the engine for insurance purposes.. i understand as the liberty came with the ej20g factory option (rs wagons) this will work in my favour negating the need for an engineer to sign off on it, so is it just a case of calling and changing engine numbers as you would for a replacement engine or does it need inspection?

cheers tyrone

Not sure on this one but I think it will still need approval from the Dept of Transport and inspection.

Shouldn't need engineering though - as long as it has the same brakes as an RS.

I would ring DOT and they should be able to tell you straight away.

Pretty sure it is just a form to fill out,
as you said it came out factory in Australia with that engine

Cheers,

I think you might have to go back on the pits and get them to approve the conversion papers etc

Check with DPI but last time I did it, I just filled in a change of engine form and then had an inspection. As this conversion was going from 2.2ltr to 2.0ltr. They couldn't understand why I wanted to go down in size? They went concerned about the turbo.
