Powerlines on Wednesday 13th

Post by taza » Mon Jun 11, 2012 4:00 pm

Guys, a mate and I are heading out to do the Mundaring Powerline track on Wednesday. Taking both our Subies.
I'm sure most of you are working but if your not are you interested?

Meeting in Midland at 9am on the corner of Great Eastern Highway and Farrall rd. There is a Caltex servo and Red Rooster on the corner.

Taz

better put the mud tyres on!

it gets really slippery out there in the wet. Be careful!

I suppose it needed it, the way it was looking lately, I think it would have become impassably in a few years .

Oh I reckon it will be. Bloody wish I had a snorkel as I feel a few deep water crossings coming along.

If you don't have a snorkel and you're on bald AT's I wouldn't be entering any water. But that's just me

on sunday we had a 'once in a decade' storm, which we are getting another one of tonight. conditions are meant to be the equivilent of a cat 2 cyclone.
the powerlines track still has puddles big enough to swallow a hilux in the middle of january after 2 months of no rain. and you are planning to take a stock subi out there tomorrow on a weekday when there will be no 4wd's to tow you out again??

sounds like something i would do... :D

i am on the final push to get my car finished, but i might wander accross the road and see you guys at the servo if you are still going (and i can get the car driving again today)

seriously, if you do go take it easy, its a long walk back to mundaring in the rain to get help and i get the feeling rescue services will be a bit pre occupied for a few days!

haha, iwouldn't describe the powerlines as having 'water crossings' in this type of weather, rather under water in this type of weather
nah, if its been graded recently it is probably not too bad.

Guy's eyes just lit up... he wants you to do it Taza

haha. I've been wanting to go for ages. I will be taking the chicken tracks, just want to see what it's like out there. My Forester has a few mods so that should help compared to my mates stock Forester...
Otherwise if the weather is shit tomorrow we might just go to the pines and go mudding :D
Guy im already looking for another engine, or rebult this one. The rings are stuffed and in a 700km trip I went through 2L of oil. lol
Good to know I got a few people to call if we loose both cars. haha
I think I will be taking a tarp. Should certainly be some interesting pics and vids to put up. haha

90Brumby; it's upto you if you want to come. I'd love to see hatchie in person.. The meeting details are on the first page of this.
