Guess who's in town...

G'day Western Australians!

So I'm sure you've guessed who's in town if you're reading this.

It was decided at the end of last term that we were going to shoot for WA after xmas - but needed to know that the car was good to go before hand, especially since I put it back together xmas eve after some rust killing and sealing work.

We've arrived safe, killed my centre driving light near Hyden from a passing vehicle (on one of those single lane sealed roads) and the cheap radiator didn't seem to appreciate the corrugations in sections of the road between Norseman and Hyden.

So, I'm keen to catch up with a bunch of you while I'm here. We're throwing around dates as to when we head back east at the moment as I really want to catch up with RSR who just happens to be out of town atm (spewing!). Hoping to talk Mrs El Freddo around about extending our stay to catch up when you're back!

If you're around drop a line and we'll see what we can do ;)

Cheers

hey that's awesome you're suddenly over here! I'm just hanging out at home in Jandakot tomorrow but could pop out somewhere if you are around. My L series is now driving, and it might want to meet Ruby!
I think I have a couple of my old brass dualcore radiators (modded to suit EJ) sitting around if you are in need of one too.

Bennie I hope all is well with the car. I drove past Preston beach Twice today once on the way to Perth at 5.30 am and about 3.30 pm on the way home. Sadly the brumby was full of brass, copper, aluminium and Jewellery tools . Amongst other things I need to set up a casting area at home.

I'm hoping to find you tomorrow at Preston Beach.

After a rollercoaster ride we're about to depart Southern Cross and visit the super put on our way to the start of the Nullarbor. Long day ahead as we aim for the border and a little bit beyond.

With in Perth Ruby Scoo managed this milestone:

Hope you managed the obligatory 5 laps around the car dancing naked... ;)

Did you manage to catch up with old mate BlackMale while you were there? I haven't sadly.

Happy travels anyway... here's to the next 500k!

God speed, wishing you and the family a safe and mechanically uneventful trip back, I'm sure Ruby Scoo will get you all home in style.

When I sat in the drivers seat there was less than 40kms to go :)

Good to meet you and the family.

I hope all goes well for you this year and that you have a great journey back.

Home safe guys. Had a really good run even with the heat. We did some sight seeing along the bight and stayed at the historic Koonalda Historic Station and visited the Koonalda Cave.

Unfortunately I we missed out on stopping off in Adelaide for any more than a pizza and fuel :( I wanted to catch up with SB. The gearbox stuff up set us back a number of days!

There was a gearbox problem, I'll let Bennie elaborate on that one :(

Apparently there were some other cars from the same era on the road as well.

Wicked vans come to mind from memory.

Yeah steptoe, I need some time to do a write up where all shall be explained! But the short of it was a gearbox rebuild was performed before we headed back east...

A wicked camper or two were seen, not as many as our trip over and they seem to be getting newer too.

At Kiki (SA) we saw an unfortunate situation where a family had managed to get their hired Mani Winnebago hitched up on the Armco (correct name for that type of road safety barrier?) on the opposite side to the road in the middle of some road "safety" cameras. I bet the cameras didn't see that one coming!

I'm yet to tally up fuel usages and total cost etc. But oddly enough we made ten fuel stops on the way over and the same on the return trip...

Odometre is now 503815 :D

Cheers
