Brother's wagon - R I P

Yep, sad to say it but its true. My brother has written off his L series wagon. The short of it is that he came out of a roundabout with some traction loss and ended up in a steel fence. He took out a section of the fence but what really did the damage was the brick pylon behind it. He's fine and there are no casualties except the L. The front bumper is sitting about where the passenger side cam pulley used to be, perhaps even a little further back.
Looking at the panel, frame and engine damage it definitely appears to be a write-off. We towed it back to my place with my ute and we will be wrecking it there. Will let you guys know if we're selling the tyres and / or lift, nearly everything else is up for grabs. Its a DL with the brown interior.
On a side note, the tow truck drivers that showed up were beyond vultures, they were short fused psychopathic owner operators. One told the cops that I was drunk (I wasn't, I had been at the pub though so I would've smelt like it) and the other would not leave even after we had the car back on the road and were towing it.

Towies are a strange breed aren't they ? Some states have a tow register to stop the vulture business ethics. Recently saw a towie trying to sell a car fresh from the accident scene telling everyone interested that the owner had 'sold' it to him in exchange for the tow, and it owed him $300. Funny though one of us knew the car, rang the crazy driver who had owned it until an hour earlier 4 km down the road. He had paid the towie $300 and asked him to take it to the tip !
Willie has a prety neat lookin', soundin' wagon for sale

Well truth be told, while it didn't go offroad even once he did actually own it for nearly 2 years. It was lifted and tyred about a month after he got his licence, about a year ago now.
We're thinking about rebuilding the front end rather crudely and making it into a farm hack, with my welded diff and my MY's old Weber'd EA82, maybe even using the old RS Liberty radiator I was going to throw out. First things first we're getting my blue sedan into a running state for him, currently its sitting engine-less with an EA81 and 3spd slushomatic waiting to go back in.
I'll keep the board posted.

Lifted L wagons just don't drift..they roll or as here, probably the tendency to roll scared ya into just going for the wall. Could've turned the wheel the other way tho, yeah I know alot happens in 2seconds. Its safer than rolling anyway.
stick Strictly to straight line speeds only.

How come you're not putting the EJ16 in the coupe? If I remember correctly all you really had to work out was the gearbox crossmember.

Wiring and fuel had to be done too, as well as sorting those inner CV's / gearbox output stubs.
The EA81 decision has been made for three reasons: reliability, one was available cheap and the HP couldn't punch the sedan out of a wet paper bag
I swapped my Sony Xplod head unit for the EA81 with an EA82 flexplate, converter and 3spd box. Staying with the EA81 drivetrain as this seems simpler to me.

Serious?
If you are interested PM me with you contact details, thanks.
I will be selling it without the 27" Nangkangs, and will change the radio and spots over from my other wagon, apart from that - a swag of MY spares too!
Found out today that 27" Nangkangs are STILL available in WA, see my comments in "Spotted" when I put up a reply.
Cheers Roger

They may be old stock though, meaning that you can not get new ones once they sell out.

I am wondering that with the variety bash cars being fitted out at the moment that some stock may have come back into the state?? Just needs to be followed up with a phone call if anyone wants some to find out.
