my mechanic informed me i'l be needing a clutch replacement soonish...has anyone gone through the process of replacing theirs. is it easier to find a second handy ..or getting one made up.....Paul from Subareck said there isn't much price difference in a second hand one, and getting one made up or something...

any ideas? i dont plan on doing the installation myself either:p

$220 should get you a kit. Thats pressure plate, friction plate and thrust bearing.
Easy job, we done one in the pits at the Loveday Riverland Challenge on a fellow competitors car in under 2 hours with lots of beer and poor tool selection.

Hardest bit is getting the motor to line back up with the gearbox. If you don't have an engine crane and balancer then it can be a little tricky.

But if you do need to get someone else to do it, and your paying, absolutely go new. It costs $$$ just for the labor I've found. So may as well have something in there that will last a long time. Just don't get ripped off if they want more then $300 for a whole clutch kit..

^^^ agree.

Do not waste time with a second hand clutch - same dollars to install (if you aren't doing it yourself).

Paul or steve can do one a new for you with their eyes closed
