there is a couple, but as for legal, don't bet on it.. So beware.

The one near mount barker is a pretty long hill that is very clay'y. Dorset vale "Junk Tree" is a tiny playground. And the one in the middle is a small creek crossing that can sometimes get deeper then your windscreen.

Don't abuse the tracks please. And try to be as gentle and quite as possible. Don't want these spots closed down like every other good spot I knew of.

does anyone know anywhere else close to Adelaide hills where people can 4wd? doesn't have to be extreme, fire tracks and small paths are good?

I've heard talk about these special CFS maps.. They are supposed to list all the fire tracks and other tracks that can be used in emergencies and stuff.. Never seen one though. We're pretty stuffed here in SA unless you know someone who has land.

Tried to find a track today near Gorge rd but when I got there my access was block. I'll try another at the top of the Parade at Sky in the week. There seem to be a lot of tracks at a beach north of St kilda at the end of a road called Shellgrit rd. You can find a lot of stuff with Goggle earth.

Yes, the track goes right up and over, then leads into Myponga. I'ved used it as a alternative route home some times.
Awesome place that is. Been there twice. The comp track is fun, but last time he made all the peaks a bit higher and it was painful to here my exhaust drag on every hill. But now his making a couple more comp tracks, one of which is a tiny rally cross track and that was awesome fun.. It really shows how much better subies are at rally then big 4WD's. Although I popped a bead off because of the deep ruts and my tiny 27" kumho's....
