Where's some good places to go?
Where's some good places to go?
Myself and a few friends are going over on some cheap flights around the end of feburary for 10 days.
Im looking for some ideas on where's good to go, sadly i dont thing the group wants to camp but Im thinking a couple of nights in a caravan park would be good. Also were looking at hire cars so 4wding will be left off. However I am tempted to put my car on the boat.
So far we these places have been suggested:
Sticks valley
franklin river
freycinets
cradle mountain
cascade brewery
Any suggestions are welcome.

Bugger... I spent 3 weeksdown there with a mate, this is when subaru's caught my attention, he had an L series. I got a good time and 8kg to loose when I got home, that took me the best part of 8 months... I guess a six pack every night will do that to youAlpineRaven wrote:Stay away from Queenstown, water there is bad, got sick from there for one week.

Really depends on what you want to do, from your original list it looks like your going hiking? But your friends don't want to camp? I might be a little (lot!) bias, but if your going to these places then they desrve more than a day trip.
If your into cheese, then there's the Lactos factory in Burnie, and Ashgrove on the highway near Deloraine. Whilst your at Lactos, go next door to the distillery and grab some tassie whisky. 'tis good!
Oh, the pancakes at elephant pass on the east coast are a goodsend to a weary traveller.
It shouldn't cost that much to bring the car over, isn't late feb in the off season? Other option is to pick up a cheap number over here. We might be able to keep an eye out for you.
West coast water from the tap is pretty ordinary all round, which is a shame cos water off the mountain's (upstream from mining) is bloody awesome. The queen river (queenstown) used to be almost silver! Now its more of a muddy/coppery colour....
And yeah, come visit!
