There has to be an end of year trip, its a tradition now!

Southport is definatly on the agenda, but its just a part.
To classify as an EOYT it has to be a journey, an epic one. :)

I'm thinking east coast this time. Some ideas:
- Roll the Ben Lomond/Ragged Jack Saddle into the mix and start there.
- Strike east to St Helen's/ Peron Dunes for a play.
- Maybe a play on Friendly Beaches as well.
- Take the track into Toomes Lake from Swanport or where ever it comes out.
- Onto Jefferies track.
- And last but not least to Southport.

- And of course any tracks along the way found by local knowledge or a keen eye.

This way people can jump in and out depending on their circumstances, plenty of blacktop and towns in between, so its not as if we are crossing the savanah. Dunes should also cater for any unlifted subes.

As for dates, I'm pretty happy for Subius and Brumberty to make the call, as they missed out on the Henty Dunes.

So how much time can everyone get off? and when?

I will most likely be in qld for 3 or so weeks in january, and probably flinders island for a week at some stage over the holidays.

Aussiemoot hey Johnny, in NSW? You flying or driving?

Ok, toying with the idea of mid december, with a start on the weekend of the 15th/16th

Use the saturday as a pack/prep/travel/meetup/bbq/chinwag day, maybe setoff to ben lomond that afternoon and camp somewhere.
continue over ben lomond on sunday and onwards to the peron dunes.

The road into toomes lake is just a nice gravel road, however there are LOTS of interesting looking side tracks. Kind of like the oldina forestry without the mud for you north-westereners. Will be great.

Lift the bush pig Mick, you know you want to. Give her a quick spayjob in wrc blue with some 555 decals down the side ftw.

Yeah have heard some tales of the rednecks in the Ben Lomond area, any suggestions to where isn't good shooting?

Will be good to have you onboard Jarrod.

Thanks MY_STI. Would my car make it Without lift or will i have to invest in some before the trip to make it easier?

OK, the rough plan is looking something like starting on the 15/16th.
Allow ~ 4-5 days for the whole lot. Till the follwing weekend maybe. 22/23
So take off the week before xmas if possible.

I know thats a little ambiguous, will have a slightly more detailed game plan shortly. By the same token it needs to remain flexable, as things rarely go occording to plan, and wheres the fun if they do?

Jarrod: If you intend to lift the L anyway then it might pay to before the trip, the real benifit will come fom larger tyres as well, which might be alittle painful just before xmas.

Ben Lomond might be a little harsh unlifted, haven't been there so not sure.
Hopefully someone else can elaborate on this.

Should be fine on the dunes in stock trim. twin thermofans would be a good idea, on an override switch. What are you running on the 14's? 195's?

I have just had a call from work. Not good. The project I will be working on isn't starting for another week so i'm not leaving till sunday the 18th. Which means i'll be getting back to tassie somewhere between the 15th and the 21st of Dec.

So not ideal. I will just join up with you guys tho when I can.

oh well. such is life.

Well i am running 185 65 on the rims with one thermo fan. Was looking at putting lift in it but the whole cash flow problem is the problem. i am also going away to fiji on christmas day so im not looking at spending a lot of money.
