Check Engine light

Post by choinka » Thu Aug 28, 2008 1:30 pm

Hi,

A mate of mine was looking at a 93 liberty but the check engine light and the ABS light was on all the time we test drove it. The guy says this has been light that since he's had it and hasn't affected the running of the car. The car went well, but I'm a bit worried. He also said he's taken it to Subaru and they told him there's nothing wrong with it.
Anyone have any input???

Cheers,

Richard

I would be sussed.. only way to see if ABS is working or not is to slam the brake hard and see if there is a wheel lock or shuddering to slow down instead of locking up the tyres. - if it skids then obviously ABS isnt working... but if ABS shows that its working then you would find out why the light is showing....

Cheers

Have you check the 02 sensors? Perhaps the computer code for the oxygen sensor may be the caused of a lean fuel mixture. Try to check the fuel supply especially the fuel filter and pump. Btw, visit this link autorepair.about.com/od/troubleshooting/a/CElightarticle.htm

I know an old guy that reckons Subaru rules, after picking up a liberty wagon for a song, then he got a spare and a newie (which he hates to drive) Loves his old ones with bloody high mileage. Just spoke to him. Truth be known he is too tight to fix his same lights and no problems until just last night, not related to the lights. does all his interstate trips in the old EJ22's
