i have a spare remote key that isn't programmed to my car, and wish to program it in case something happens to the orig.
ive searched on google & attempted for about an hour to no avail
how do i go about doing this?
also, did the aus delivered imprezas come with the honk/chirp on lock installed? or perhaps that is only the us spec models. i dont think my car has a factory alarm...

Hi, No subarus come with a factory alarm.... they have a keyless entry system, which you can add an Upgrade Alarm too... Cyclops do an good upgrade, they are available from Strathfield and Autobarn from around the $350 mark Installed. They have black wired two point immobalisation, glass break sensor, and the option to add on other acc's like tilt sensor, microwave sensor, window roll up,etc...
Your factory key has an inbuilt transponder chip which tells the car when the key is in the ignition, if this is not programed in correctly your car will not start,,,, Im assuming the key has the remote buttons inbuilt into the key... If not then a complete stand alone alarm can be used instead...Or you can still use one if you dont mind having a different remote to get in and out of your car.. Any good installer can tell you all this and more.. Head down to your local and check it out..
P.S subaru will have to code your key and remote...
Hope this helps
