Squeaking tailgates.
Hi all just entering this small but annoying problem here as I have finally come across something that helps nullify this prob. For years I have been using armor all and a dry wax stick to help eliminate this prob. When out of frustration googled it elsewhere and found that silicone spray is the answer and voila so far so good, also sticking felt pads where the rubber stopper strike the metal helps. A bit expensive silicone spray but for $16 (shop around) it has stopped something that for years was slowly driving me madder.. It is recommended however that you don't spray silicone directly onto paintwork as it is a bugger to remove if you have to respray. anyway fyi.

is that on your forester?
sounds like an easy solution.. I will try it also as squeeks and rattles drive me nuts

silicon spray can be bought at CBC. I have that on the roller doors and it works!
Check for mis-alignment on the tailgate door, same thing happened to my brother's VT commodore and we fixed it by moving the door around.
Cheers
