1998 subaru liberty engine codes

Post by gomezliberty » Thu Jan 07, 2010 12:03 pm

Hey evryone.
i was wondering how you clear the engine codes on a '98 liberty. the light would come on intermittently, i took it to subaru and when i got it back i still had the light appearing.
i was thinking of clearing the codes to see if it would come back, considering a diagnosis from subaru is $140!

any help greatly appreciated.
thanks

update:
i managed to find out the trouble code using the diagnostic connectors and got 3 long flashes and 2 short flashes (32) which i beleive is an O2 sensor.

what exactly is the problem with the O2 sensor and whats the cheapest way i can fix it?

thanks.

check this out - Error Codes
Which Liberty is yours, is it Gen 2 or 3?
Yes code 32 (3 long & 2 short) is O2 sensor, you can get them off ebay for a good price.

I'm pretty sure it has 1 O2 sensor.
Its behind at the front of the Catalytic Converter.
