Could be lots of things.. prob best to go to your local Radiator shop and get them to pressure check your cooling system

You know you are getting old when the candles on your birthday cake start to cost more than the cake itself.

Ring around a few radiator shops for heater cores. Even try interstate - I seem to recall El_Freddo got his in Vic much cheaper than I saw them here.
Don't bother with silicone hoses -cheap rubber hoses will outlive your car, and I doubt you'd find silicone anyway. Top and bottom rad hoses will be available at any parts shop, heater hose is standard 5/8" cut to length, the one off the back of the water pump you should be able to match up to a hose from some other car at your favourite local parts joint. There are two more between the heater core and the firewall which are genuine Subaru only, and worth doing when you do the heater job.

Did a 96 Festiva once....they could be recoredGOD wrote:Heater cores can't be recored. It's the plastic end tanks that rot and crack.
Or you can just bypass the heater.

The Festiva I did seemed as they had fitted the core and built the rest of the car around it. Had to drop the whole dash to gain access, ended up being a half day job.troy1988 wrote:yeah for the time being i have bypassed it but i need to get it fixed as winter is arrising and my partner has her 2 kids part time and there young. so might just hav to shop around.. how hard are they to instal? as i hav been doing all the repairs myself so i can know more about my vehicle.
Not sure about the L series.
