im so excited someone made this a recent post!!
i luv clutch issues, and im amazed that no one on earth seems to understand the complexities of this torque matching masterpeice. not even clutch shops! no offence meant to anyone on here!! We car lovers are the victims!
When i unbolt a pressure plate, i allways mark it in line with teh flywheel, as sometimes they can go on 3 ways. The tiniest machining fault on the lugs which the pressure plate lines up with, can cause it to go out by fractions of a mm.
so imagine introducing a new pressure plate into things, what chance have you got!!
Atkinson was adamant that the jerking was not there beforehand. Mechanics (profesional or not) will doubt ur honesty and think you are taking them for a ride.
If i were you, before you get too unhappy, id have someone check that the spigot bearing (in the flywheel) was not damaged during the install, and also check that the gearbox wasnt removed under the car and reinstalled with brute force. (liek 2 monkeys hanging off the exhaust slamming the gearbox back into the engine).
A good clutch job is done with the engine out of the car, then lowered back into the engine bay on a chain hoist.
