Exhaust Temp Light, L series Turbo

Post by Mr Paz » Tue Nov 01, 2011 1:58 pm

hi, i recently bought a 1986 L series turbo converted wagon,
had CEL on and exhaust temp light, i fixed the CEL problem, now i am just stuck with the exhaust temp light on,
how would one go about fixing this? (has aftermarket exhaust) i cant find a sensor hanging anywhere, but i have found a wire covered in a white woven type material, with a similar looking end to what the o2 sensor looks like, just without the sensor itself, is this the sensor wire? and if so, is it supposed to go into the cat? or do you guys think this is an unrelated wire to my problem?

any help would be much appreciated :D

Sounds like the 'post' cat exhaust temp wire, so I wouldn't worry about it. Usually the temp light is there to let you know the cat has burnt out. Most likely your car has had the cat (internals) removed.

will the ecu function properly with me just pulling out the globe from the dash?

exhaust temp globe is in all our dashes I think, just not in use in Oz delivered. Whoever wired it up may have used it for something else or a wire to earth its circuit is touching earth somewhere
