Strange noise coming from front right wheel.

Post by mickey079 » Wed Jun 06, 2012 8:33 pm

Hey

I bought my 92 L series wagon last week, after driving for about 5 minutes I noticed a strange noise coming from the front right wheel.

It's sounds like a rubbing/rubber squeeking noise, now it only does it when I brake and mostly when I turn left. I took the wheels off on Monday and checked the boots on the CV joints and then were all still in pretty good condition, disc rotors looked fine, bearings seemed a little dry but nothing too serious. I did notice however the wheels were hard to spin (with the wheel on or off). I have rego due in a few weeks and really want to get to the bottom of this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am not to savvy with cars.

Take the lazy motorist way and get your inspection done earlier than the pay rego date - giving you a bit more time to fix if fails. Let the inspection turn up any problem if it is a safety thing the sooner the better. Spray CV boot between the bellows with silicone spray and see if noise goes ????
