How to properly adjust an auto choke EA81
G'day,
I'm trying to get Redback running right as I'm sick of taking 5 minutes to cold start it without the choke.
I've removed the piece of wire we used to keep it open, adjusted it so that it was closed when cold - it started great this morning! But once hot the choke still remains partially closed rather than fully open - this is after a 10 minute drive.
How do I adjust this to get full movement for the best of both worlds? Keen to get this sorted ASAP.
Cheers
Bennie

What carbie are you running? I'm guessing you're running a manual choke carby with no cable???

I have scanned the auto choke adjustment section from one of my factory service manuals hopefully it's the right choke model, but they're too big to attach on here. Even compressed they're too big
So I uploaded it to this file hosting site, if you trust those sites here it is:

Page 2 got a little fuzzy because the book is so thick it's hard to squeeze it into the scanner

Will it ever end!?

As long as all the parts of the choke are working, they are relatively easy to set up.
Make sure the pull off diaphragm is set up correctly and works.
I can be simpler to set the choke flap so it is fully open (just) when the motor is warm and the diaphragm is also pulling it open.
Make sure the choke coil is earthed properly.
It depends on how cold the air is when you start it how hard it will close, but make sure the diaphragm does it job, or you will never get it correct.

L serious, still.
