EJ22 Stalling (1995 Liberty auto)

Post by suba88 » Wed Sep 27, 2006 11:02 pm

When I come to a stop the engine starts to run very rough and erratic on say 3 cylinders, then 2 cylinders then stalls. It will restart but I need to keep the revs up high to keep it going, once moving again it will be fine for the rest of the day no matter how many times I come to a stop.

Biggest problem is it's intermittant and may only do it once a week or twice a week so its very hard to predict and diagnos but it always happens after it has been sitting overnight and within the first two kms of a cold start.

Many top end cleaners have been put in through the throttle body and the inlet manifold removed and valves de-waxed the best we could.

Hoping someone can help.
thanks

Ej22 seam to have Air Bypass Controller problems... is the engine light coming on when it begins to play up???

Either way i would be definately removing the Air Bypass Controller and giving it a good clean with carby cleaner. Just to be sure.

While it is running very rough the lights dont come on but of course come on when it finally stalls.

What is it, where is it and how do I experiment with the Air Bypass Controller?

thanks
