I have an '89 Brumby. I can't get reverse in low range 4x4, but, can get it in high 4X4 and in normal driving.
Can anyone give me a clue what's wrong?
Do you have to replace both Cv'S at a time? It seems the left one is knocking a bit but the right seems fine.
Thanks fellas
Ross

Sounds a bit like the selector needs to tightned up, jump under the ute and have a look where the gearshifter comes down and connects to the gearbox , read round shaft, with another round shaft over it. You should see what i mean when you get under it. There should be a vertical bolt and nut there that will be lose allowing the shifter to move. Tigthen this bolt and nut up nice and tight, and see how it goes.

Thanks for your advise.
The gearshift isn't sloppy at all and the ute hasn't been lifted. It is strictly standard. I'll have a look underneath as suggested and check that bolt and nut. Sounds like that could be the culprit.
This is my first Subaru. It has just on 240 thousand kilometres on its original engine. Doesn't blow or use oil. Goes like a scalded cat too. I haven't had it very long and am still learning about it.
