Pre Ignition Webered EA82

Post by suba88 » Sun Jun 24, 2007 1:16 pm

My engine diesels nearly everytime i turn it off after a moderate drive. I have retarded the timing to 8degress past TDC still no change. apart from using premium fuel which helps the problem has anyone got an idea of what i can do to stop this from happening?

Thanks Paul

i once got told that advanced timing was the cuase of it all..but thought that wasnt possible as mine is atm set up to factory timing (done by my boss) and dwell angle was set up aswell with new points put in.

i dont no bout using premium in my car as its suppsoe to run with leaded so would that cuase any problems?

Matatak... you can actually run unleaded in your car with no problems at all. You should consider upgrading your distributer to the electronic type which would not have points and stuff. BIG improvement.

Sorry Paul never had a fix for your problem even when i had a webber on my car.

yer i have been running unleaded with no additives or nething..my idea was that when it ****s itself ill go for the conversion lol..
also with the intentions of a Conversion in the future i have been trying to refrain from spending money on my car that would be rendered useless after a conversion. like electronic dizzy and weber.

my neighbour also told me once that the exhaust at the point where it exits the head can create a hot spot. dunno but

Put your timing back to 6 deg BTDC.
You must make a carbie throttle shut off, its too long to decribe with my one finger typing so call 0883496960

In relation to the spark plugs what heat range do you recomend if i wish to go colder in grade. I have put the timing at 6 BTDC and still it diesels. At the moment i have Bosch Super 4 plugs, maybe they are getting too hot???
