L series Paint code

Post by 89lseries » Wed Jan 11, 2006 10:53 am

I am after a paint code for my L-series subaru wagon. It is a december 88 model DL. It is a pale yellow colour, some people call it beige but it is definetely (to me) a yellow colour. I dont believe it is a very common colour. The sticker with the paint code on it is long gone. Thought i would give it a try on here before going and trying to get it matched. Also have been to Subaru dealer on the sunshine coast without any luck. Does anyone have the same colour suby and know the paintcode or know where i could find out the paint code?

Thanks

My advice would be to get it matched due to the fact that it's probably faded. Had a bad experience with this on a silver 124 series Merc.
Monster Subaru sold to a good home!! Still a Subaru owner. Will try stay in the Ausubaru loop. Sorry

Here is the secret, so shhhhhhhh do not tell any1.

Get a small patch of paint from an area that is unlikely to have suffered huge amount of fading (there is HEAPS of em, under boot linning, underside of bonnet and doors) then take the chip to Bunnings (not that plugging this store – maybe any paint store could do this – I do not know I just know that this store can) and they have a machine that will analysis the and give you the exact paint formula to get that colour. They even give you the code so that if you need to get more you do not require another analysis you just give em the code and they can make another batch the exact same colour/shade.

Most auto-paint shops have a big book with all the paint codes for different manufacturer/models of car. They'll mix it up for you on the spot.
