Engine cuts out when used for long hauls
I thought I would ask what people might think of my EA82 engine in a 91 sportswagon cutting out during long trips?
It feels like the fuel either doesn't want to burn or is not coming through but only after long hours of use especially in warm climates.
I was thinking hot idol solenoid, something in the fuel tank that gets sucked through with lots of use and heat or fuel filter gets tired?
I'm hoping someone has had the same problem and found what it was! Thanks

Hey Brett,
Does your L run hot on long trips? Does this happen once the fuel level is low in the tank?
Any details you can add to help diagnose the problem? I've never heard of this happening til now.
My sister's L seems to have water in the fuel tank due to the fact that after filling the tank it takes about 15km til the engine settles down from coughing and miss firing... After that it runs like it should.
Cheers
Bennie

Hey Bennie, thanks!
Say I'll drive all the way to Bundaberg from Brisbane which it will go fine all the way. I'll stop and have a break for an hour or two, then when I drive off all of a sudden it will just cut out the engine no matter what. Then if I let it cool down for about 20 minutes it starts up fine and may or may not happen again, depends what mood its in. I know its a hard one but thought I would ask anyway, could be anything but seems electronic because its so unpredictable.
