Brumby radiator

Post by greg » Tue Jun 17, 2008 9:24 pm

Hi guys.
I recently checked my radiator coolant level as the temp was rising rather quick and the radiator was way down.Couldn't spot any obvious leaks but when i checked my engine oil level it was way up and milky..... could the radiator be leaking into my engine oil somehow? If so this sounds pretty serious.Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

The EA81 heads have welch plugs that corrode/rust away if coolant/anti corrosion/anti freeze not kept in check. These then leak water/coolant into the rocker cover/gear area and therefore your oil, giving you a sump full of buttermilk , BLECH . If theis is the problem it is best done by lifting engine out. Heads don't have to come off but if I recall correctly the rocker gear does and just do the head bolts back up to spec.

Just get a pressure tester to pressurise the cooling system as you rip the rocker covers off to see water seaping out...if that is the case.
