how do you know you cant get rear wheel drive?
The push button activates a solenoid that sends oil pressure to a clutch pack at the rear of the transmission. The clutches allow a bit of slip even when engaged. If you tried to drive with a broken front CV in 4wd, you could have burnt out your clutches

These units weren't the best from the start from all accounts I've heard...Suparoo wrote:how do you know you cant get rear wheel drive?

The fix - stick the dual range 4wd manual gearbox in there, that'll give you rear wheel drive if you ever want it...
