hey guys. i notice a strange metalic noise coming from the under side of the brumby. i can only discribe it as a metalic clicking/ticking. it is only when moving and it increases/speeds up when i speed up.i tried pushing on the 4x4 lever and it lessens. any idea? could it be the cv's on the prop shaft????

quite possible. That is how I would describe the noise the uni joints make when they are flogging out as I've had that happen a few times.
Take the tailshaft off and "waggle" the unijoints in your hands. If they are difficult to move or feel kindof "chunky" then they require replacement. If you are lucky enough to have uni joints with a grease nipple then definitely service them, otherwise if you have the more common Subaru "non-replaceable/non-servicable" type then you need to get them replaced at a tailshaft servicing place (yes, they are infact still replaceable, it just costs more).

But also check your shifter and 4x4 linkages and exhaust heat shields etc, maybe something has just worked slightly loose and is rattling.

yea sounds like uni joints on the tail shaft to me, had mine done not long ago and replaced with a greasable one...

Dunno how many times I've winced as a Brumby rolls by with that ting ting of stuffed tailshaft unis - stands out most when engine off and roll down a quiet stretch with a building or stone wall to bounce the sound back at you. Dry unis end up getting ridges inside the uni cups, spill out red brown dust.

realised it was me again with another Brumby. Swapped in another all greased up and known replaced unis - SO much quieter on the road.

The ting sort of sounds like it is the ting from the noisy exhaust header of later Brumby
