fuel problem maybe
The last week when driving to work every time i drive my wagon up this big hill (about 2km) i get about half way and my car dies in accelaration the more i press down on the peddel the more it dies when i take my foot of the peddel it starts to pick back up again so i have to drive up the hill in 2nd with just abit of accelaration making it a slow trip up the hill the temp gage goes up abit but once up the hill and back on flat gound it's back to normal the driving hard and fast i have an ea82 td04,vl turbo injectors and a vl bosh fuel pump, iam think fuel problem maybe any input would be great.

fixed the problem
it was a simple problem to fix once i forgot to put my fuel cap on today and it drove fine up the hill today.....i have noticed lately when i go to take the fuel cap of ot fill her up there is heaps of pressure and it hisses as i take it off,so i figure that was causing the surging.hay:p

The few psi in the fuel tank from vapour expansion shouldnt make much difference to overall fuel pressure that runs at about 36psi.
When did you last change your fuel filter?

If he's running a carb tank it could be the problem - my carb tank running the EFI system used to get some serious pressure build up in it, some times hissing for quite some time - I sometimes wondered if it was going to stop before I got the cap completely off...Suparoo wrote:The few psi in the fuel tank from vapour expansion shouldnt make much difference to overall fuel pressure that runs at about 36psi.

Similar problem in Brumby
I have a 85 Brumby with standard engine and when going up a hill a few months back the power just died. Pulled over turned it off and restarted it and it went fine for 50 metres then the same thing. This happened several times until I finally got to the top and was able to cruise downhill for the next few kms and all was well. I replaced both fuel filters thinking that was the problem but also took it to the local country garage for inspection as I thought the carby may be clogged.
He reckoned it was electrical and fiddled and all has been fine for a month or so until last week-end.
This time going out of an incline at a motel, power died. Stopped, turned engine off and then back on and ok for 50 metres. Stopped 10 times in about 5 kms then was fine for the next 90 kms home. Went to work next day and no problems. Coming home hit a bump at the railway line and same issues again. Stopped 6 times in as many kms then right for the next 50 kms home.
Power just dies but engine still turning over although no power via accelator. Tried restarting it while still moving, turn off and then back on but still no power. However, if I stop and restart all is good.
Any ideas?? Electrical or fuel or both??
I just thought as people have their thinking caps on with a similar problem they may be able to solve mine.
