Vibration under accel

Car developed a new problem last night....

At any accel pedal at all there is a major vibration through the car, back off and it is as smooth as. Free revving in neutral is giving no vibration so I am guessing its not the engine. Mounts are all good. One CV joint has lets all its juice out, I am suspecting its a shagged CV ball, which is only causing a problem under accel and dropping back on overrun? Reckon I would be on the mark????

Will replace the CV's next week and see how I go - but any suggestions in the meantime would be good!!!

Sounds like you are right on the money. I'd say definitely that CV causing the problem.

Had a problem like that in a brumby a couple of years ago and it turned out to be the cv. Shook hell out of itself under acceleration and went away after lifting off the throttle. The problem was intermittent and came and went for a month before I fixed it. Cheers

Ben, try it in 4wd and see what happens. I also think you are on the right money with it being a cv.

No difference in 4wd. Getting a pair of new cv's to go in next week. May as well stop the metal/metal braking too while I'm there :)

Still haven't figured the hesitation at WOT out yet - I have a new set of plugs to go in, have replaced leads.... Hope to god its not a coil...

Even thought you're getting new CVs . . . you could always just swap sides and see if that makes a difference.

I was also thinking CV shaft double offset joint (inner)

I have had same on Brumby especially at light throttle going from 60 to 80 k

Now have a spare shaft I know is good, made from old bits that I swap in to diagnose the RE#CO CV shafts and all the faults I am experiencing with them. I pick the side , swap and when problem goes I go back to REP*O with original receipt getting pretty tatty by now, argue the point, swap back and wait for them to shit emselves again - sometimes within weeks !!
