i have a 92 Sports wagon with carby engine, now it was running fine until the other day, was out in the bush and found some big puddles went thru them and about 5 mins latter i stopped and left the car running as i got out and about 1min latter it died and wouldn't start and when i put my foot down it would run but as soon as a took my foot off the accelerator it wouldn't idle it would just die, also none of the lights come up on the dash, but indicators, lights, radio and air con still work just nothing else.

any help would be nice as i need to get it fixed as its my only car.

ok got a bit more info,

engine is a EA82 with Hitachi Carb,

fixed the dash lights and temp, found out it was the temp senos shorting out the system,

but car runs and will idle now when cold after it gets hot it wont idle at all, just dies straight away but will drive fine.

the most i can think that is stopping it is,

vacuum leak,
anti-dieseling solenoid could be faulty ive been told ( got no idea what or where that is tho),
the choke is messing up but i got no idea with carb motors, never messed around with them before.

any help would be nice
