Does anyone have any idea what this noise is?
I was crusing along the feeway when I started hearing a sqeek sqeek noise sounded like it was coming from the front wheels area , so I had the front brakes pads replaced as the service book said when the pads are low a warning sqeek is apparent. They were low and were replaced but the noise is still there. Not all the time but on occassions could it be the driveshaft if not what could it be? Anyone else with a MY has a similar issue?

My guess would be wheel bearings. If they're getting close to failure, constant high speed such as your cruising along the freeway will often push them over the edge. Driveshafts shouldn't squeak.

Did the disc brakes get machined before replacing the pads?
Is the noise still there when you're steering sharply?

Yeah the discs were machined. The noise does not increase when going around corners. It happens only when the car is moving does not have to be freeway. I thought that wheel bearings was a humming sound. This is like a say a kids peddle car wheel going around and around.

Check the castle nut torque - a loose castle nut will give a squeek/grinding sorta sound at any speed. It can be more apparent with the window down at low speed or by walking beside the subi when someone else is moving it at walking pace. If that's the noise, tighten them up and it should go away.

Knock it into neutral while rolling and see if the noise changes. Kill the engine while rolling and see if it changes.

gday guys my 93 l series just started to do this a bout a week ago drive for about 5 klms its fine then this ee ee ee ee ee sqeak from the front left wheel took down the mechanic both castle nuts (one either side) were loose he torqued them right up and it helped some what the noise is still there but not as noticeable he did mention that it could be the bearing as its now done 150 000 klms but there is absolutley no movement on the wheel up down side to side he said to keep an eye on it once the wheel develops movement change the bearings other than that its more annoying than anything else

noise still drove me nuts i am sort of person that cant stand any noise that shouldnt be there so I had the wheel bearings replaced $33.00 for the wheel bearing kit and $85.00 aside to fit them now its as quiet as a dead dog
