Automatic not selecting higher gear
not changing back into a higher gear over 60km/h, keeps revving and revving, had it up to 130. Does not snap back.

was the check engine light coming on before you decided that you would destroy the box ?
sorry but if it wasn't working right taking it up to 130km/h to see if its going to change gears isn't a good idea
from the sounds of it you have overheated the box rather nicely
you might want to pull the dipstick and check what colour the transmission oil is if it is any colour but the red it is meant to be then chances are you have a big problem

The gearbox avoids changing into top gear if it is too hot or cold. It is to make the engine spin quicker and circulate the oil quicker through the heat exchanger in the radiator.
