going through a fuse a week

Post by cal » Thu Jun 24, 2010 12:02 am

ok so i got this 91 liberty gx a while ago when i went for a test drive the speedo was reading wrong and jumping all over the place as was the revs gage turns out the earth cable wasnt attatched to the battery..... that was replaced when i went to pick it up from the dealership told it would be fine from now on but the speedo jumps everynow and again and and somtimes just drops out all together and now every 1st to 10th time i use the cig lighter or the power mirrors( both powerd off same fuse) it blows and sometimes the cruise controll either doesnt turn on or wont set, or will set but the drop out latter any ideas on what to try other than an auto electrician

ALSO eveytime i use the breakes a light come on that says stop lamp EVERYTIME is this supossed to happen none of the break lights are out or anything

Either poor connection or a short somewhere in that circuit... get the wiring diagram and start following and check all these wires for a short... I would check the ciggie lighter first because its common there that they play up.

Could also be a loose connection, when loose connection it does not make proper connection and needs high current to have to leap over gap, these blows fuses.
