hi this question has probably been asked before but, my 90 model brumby is overheating has a brand new radiator, new thermostat and gasket but after driving for about 15 minutes goes up to nearly 3/4 temp and can also smell radiator coolant before it feels like the fans kick in and try to help temp go down, but even then stops when about at half temp.Was thinking about checking the thermo switches which tell the fans to switch on, and then as a last resort setting up a manual switch to turn on the fans but would rather let the switches do there jobs before relying on a manual switch. any thoughts would be helpful thanx.

Is it loosing water?

yeah mine did that for a bit, what happened to mine was the fuse kepts getting shagged, 15A one, so i threw a 20A one hasnt done it since,

Typical behaviour when you remove the crank fan and simply bang on a second electric fan without replacing the radiator thermoswitch with a colder version.

Been there. Done that. If you'd searched you would've found my own Brumby overheating thread from when I installed a/c.

no doesn't seem to be losing water. my brumby is standard with a/c so already had the two fans will have a look at the type of fuse that is hooked up with the fans and see what type of amperage it is. only have a half day of work tomorrow so will try to have a bit more of a look but any more input would be greatful.

just below 3/4 is typical for fan to come on (too late in my thinking) and off at about half. I have manual switches for both my fans on one EA81, the other I wired up in a hurry and need to remem to have interior fan on before expect to have both engine fans work at same time via the AC switch, AC stuff is gone

I do not get the coolant smell though !
