hey all,
My old L with an EA82 all of a sudden has started to be unable to drop back to an idle, and stalls when the revs drop off. Car still drives great though.
This has started happening after i had to take the car down a pretty rough dirt track on new years. The car bottomed out twice, and i thought maybe i've accidently damaged the exhaust or something had shaken loose?
any thoughts would be appreciated, i'm a little lost.
Thanks,
Tom

mine was doing this at some time last year
After wondering and wondering i eventually hoed into it and found a number of things that could have caused it
The first was that the oil cap wasnt tight and this causes pressure in the system for some reason, it fills the air filter with oil
The other was that one of my vacum pipes had come off agaain possible cause easy fix.
If your that worried just wind the idle scre in a bit

I'd be checking all your vacuum lines and make sure the air filter hasn't clogged up with dust/dirt

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I had a look at those things, couple of the vacuum tubes were a little loose, but she was still stalling, so I simply wound the idle speed up a tiny bit and now no problems. So still not sure what caused it to start doing it in the first place

but maybe the idle screw just vibrated loose a tiny bit or something.
Any other suggestions would still be appreciated also

Idle speed screws don't vibrate loose, unless the compression spring is weak.
What is your idle speed now?
A blocked idle jet will give you this symptom.
You can get an engine to idle successfully with a can of carby cleaner at the correct distance, rich too close, lean too far.
