Oil in the Air Cleaner

Hi all, just bought a 91 L series wagon.

Opened the air cleaner to replace the filter and I have found oil inside.

Can anybody explain what is causing this and how to repair it?

Thanks:confused:

unfortunatly your motor is worn and the rings are "blowing by" The fix is new rings.
Unless you plan to keep the car for the next ten years, you could just put up with it.

Same thing in my brumby, except it was mixed with coolant. A sort of light brown milky grease mixture. It's either welch plugs or head gasket.
Cheers Cam

Install a catch can to collect the oily vapours before the fumes get to to air box. My EA81 did that at 370,000 km, I hooked up a breather filter to RHS rocker cover $15 SCA, and fed a $60 SCA catch can on LHS rocker to air box hose and got another happy 93,000km so far

Do you think you could take a couple of snaps to help guide me through this setup as my L wagon is also suffering from this quite a bit. Cheers.
