Quick Question:

Are EA81 and EA82 temp senders the same in terms of resistance/temperature, will an ea81 sensor give 'accurate' gauge readings on an ea82 dash?

You can get different temp senders just between different EA81's

It's theoretically possible that it could match an EA82 but I'd be checking it to be sure.

My EA82 sender matched my EA81 dash. The part numbers for the aftermarket replacements are the same as far as I know.

I just changed mine, apparently off the shelf they are listed as the same part number for all EA82 engines. VDO PNo: 320-062 around $25.
Reads 500ohm cold, supposed to be around 47ohm @ 82 degC (from manual)

I havent measured the MY to see any difference in resistance.

Mine still scares me at the moment, as the MY will read rather quickly up to mid scale, where the L seems to just hover above the C mark.
I would rather read it up scale like the MY for a truer reading.
I noticed Jaffa's was similar in reading, must be a L thing?

Is that an non original meter you are reading with an original sender? It may not be compatible to range.
I am considering a mechanical capillary type as well, as mine reads too low in range. I have thermostat and seems to work correctly, so its not running too cold.

no it is not an original gauge, when the temperature is 140 degrees my fans are blowing, so 140 minus 50 = 90 degrees, so my temperature is fine
