Brumby idle problem - help wanted
Brumby idle problem - help wanted
Since I fitted a new Webber to the standard EA81 I've had no end of issues trying to get the idle right. Now it is perfect without the A/C off but when that is turned on and acceleration applied, it idles really fast (does 60kph in 4th with no acceleration). Turn A/C off and it slows right down again. Any thoughts ?

Did you fit the aircon idle up vacuum module to the webber? if so it may just need some adjustment.

Good question.. how to describe
It looks like a round vacuum module with a lever coming off that appears to come close to the accelerator bracket.
I'll try and grab a pic.

Found this on the web.. just look to the left of the carby and you'll see the vacuum module with a L shaped rod on it... that's the thing IMO is what is sticking on?

That's connected, turn on air cond and it increases the idle. Then hit the throttle and it moves further so the idle is way too fast (hope that makes some sense). Anyway, I've disconnected the vacuum advance and doesn't seem to be much of a problem and the fast idling is fixed so I'll leave it that way. Maybe faulty A/C vacuum module ?

Sounds like you may just need to make some adjustment to the arm, so when it's on, it doesn't pull the idle on so much. The vacuum module may just need some lube on it, as it sounds it's just dry and hard to pull on properly.
