Wind noise issue after repair.

I recently had some bodywork repair done on my Outback on the front passenger side quarter panel and front bumper after a minor accident. They also replaced the passenger side rear view mirror and they took off the small wind deflector that runs along the windows and replaced it. The repairer seems to have done a nice job with it all however there is a high pitched, bloody annoying, whistling wind noise roughly around the left rear view mirror area now at speeds around 100km/h.

I have taken it back and they looked at it and have no idea what it could be. It's book in for more assessment but just wondering what anyone here might think it could be? I have tried duct taping around all the joints as per the photos but no luck.

Cheers.

We had wind noise on our Foz and it was driving me mad.

With a bit of searching, I discovered that by wrapping the black triangle that the mirror mounts to in a thick piece of cloth and giving it a squeeze with some multi-grips, it solved the noise. Kinda hard to explain but I hope Ive explained it ok

Yeah, but I only did the vertical section. Worked wonders.

Give it sumptin' to eat ??

Worst whistle I ever heard from a car was a Volvo and no roof rack either - annoyed me in my own car!!

Thanks everyone for your help.

Subyroo I was worried it would be that gap but thankfully it wasn't. After checking all the things suggested and spending a few more hours of stuffing with duct tape - it turned out to be the weather seal on the door where it meets the window. They must have replaced it when they replaced the mirror and didn't glue the seal down the same as on the other doors. Hopefully will be a fairly easy fix.

Cheers,

Hamster.
